Speakers Corner: The LF Forum > American Gods film adaptation

I've always been a bit ambivalent when it comes to adaptations of Neil Gaiman's work, they are so rich in detail and have such a distinctive tone that I worry a film will just miss the point entirely, but actually I feel okay about this one. Providing there's someone respectable in the director's chair and Gaiman is involved in the whole process I think it could be really great.

Here's the video of Neil Gaiman confirming the rumour:

Ideas for who would play Shadow?

What about Clive Owen?

I would've suggested Javier Bardem, but it looks like he's already playing Roland in the Dark Tower adaptation... Josh Brolin can do a pretty good ex-con??

Karl Urban? He's so hot right now...

Karl Urban is already Dr McCoy and Judge Dredd... American Gods as well might be too much.

Then again Ian McKellen and Christopher Lee don't seem to have any problems playing leads in multiple epic franchises.

But you could argue that those two are nearing the ends of their careers and they don't have to worry so much about balancing their roles. I mean, they're already pretty well established.

Karl Urban is Judge Dredd?? That's an interesting choice - a good one actually.
